¤ What is the CMG?

The Center for Molecular Genetics (CMG) is the legal and institutional basis for research in field of genetic engineering and biotechnology.

¤ Is there something going on in human benefit?

The institute right from its beginning is working on the metal pollution and hazardous compounds degradation by bacteria, production of environment friendly products etc. which is of course in human benefits.

¤ Who runs the activities of the CMG?

CMG is a “Member-driven” organization, and all the activities of the members and institute are run and governed by the director of the institute Dr. Nuzhat Ahmed, the members participate actively in the meetings of the CMG, which take place once in a month at CMG.

¤ What are the main objectives of the CMG?

1. To provide facility for advance research in molecular genetics and genetic engineering at the University of Karachi.

2. To develop indigenous resources for R&D in molecular genetics and genetic engineering.

3. To train young scientists and research students with advance techniques in molecular biology, genetic engineering and biotechnology in microorganisms.

4. To arain academicians, scientists corporate-technical personnel from other institutions through workshops and seminars.

5. To facilitate scientific liaision between internationally renowned institutions and the University of Karachi.

6. To conduct scientific meetings to facilitate exchange of ideas between scientists and transfer of technology.

7. To increase public awareness and bridge the gap between industry and science by promoting new technologies and scientific breakthroughs.
