1. Over the years the centre has conducted numerous short duration seminars and workshops for general public and for scientists on such topics as genetic engineering, biotechnology, environmental cleanup, molecular diagnostic techniques, oncogenes, and women related issues. The centre regularly hosts the International Symposia on Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ISGEB). The three meetings in this series held in 1989, 1993 and 1998 have been highly acclaimed internationally. The centre holds the honour of receiving ICGEB's first ever sponsorship in Pakistan for organizing the Second ISGEB. Some of the major events include:
